Iran’s ‘Malaria’ goes to Belgrade filmfest.

TEHRAN, Feb. 19 (MNA) – 'Malaria', directed by Parviz Shahbazi, has been accepted into the screening program of the Belgrade International Film Festival, known as FEST.

‘Malaria’ recounts the story of a young woman who elopes with her boyfriend to Tehran. To cover her tracks, she tells her father she’s been kidnapped. With her family in hot pursuit, the two take up with a band of bohemian street musicians and form an elaborate plan for a more permanent escape.

Shahbazi’s flick, which made its international debut at Venice International Film Festival, won Grand Prix award at Warsaw Film Festival 2016.

Global distribution of ‘Malaria’ has been signed to DreamLabs Films, directed by Nasrin Mirshab.

FEST is an annual film festival held in Belgrade, Serbia since 1971. The festival will be hosting its 45th edition from 24 February to 5 March, 2017.
